Tips and Suggestions
The following are tips and suggestions for assuring the
experience between you and your long arm quilter is the best it
can be. If for some reason, you need to do something different,
discuss your issues with your quilter and your experience will be
that much more pleasant.
- Square your backing and iron both your quilt top and
backing.
- Backing and batting should be at least 4 inches larger than
each side of the quilt.
- If backing is seamed, it is a good idea to backstitch on the
end of each seam.
- Make sure your batting is long-arm compatible.
- If your quilt has borders, please make sure your measurements
for them are taken from the middle of the quilt. Do not measure
for borders on the sides of the quilt as this will give you
borders that are too full or “wavy” and do not lie
flat. (So often borders are too full for the quilt and must be
redone or a tuck must be taken in them).
- Trim all loose threads.
- Ask your longarm quilter any questions or concerns you may
have about your quilt and the quilting. We are here to help in
any way we can.
